Cooking Classes at The J! We are excited to expand our cooking classes offerings this fall. All dishes are kosher and vegetarian. New! Learn to Bake Bagels! SOLD OUT!
Sunday, October 15, 2:00-4:30pm

Chef Jaime Lawhorn, Executive Pastry Chef at aka Deli and Bakeshop, will lead a baking workshop on bagel preparation and teach you how to make aka Deli and Bakeshop’s signature schmears. Jennifer Selco, Director of Jewish Life and Learning at The J, will give a short presentation on the history of bagel making in Jewish culture.

New! Farm to Table Cooking Class with Tucson Community Supported Agriculture
Sunday, October 29, 11 am – 2 pm

Are you interested in eating a more locally sourced diet? In this class participants will learn how to avoid frustration, approach cooking with creativity and gain knowledge of the tools they need to tackle unfamiliar fruits and vegetables. Learn to adapt favorite recipes to the seasonal availability of produce and develop a more intuitive sense of how to use fresh fruits and vegetables. The recipes will be kosher and vegetarian. Sara Jones is a long time employee of Tucson CSA and a frequent contributor and recipe writer for Edible Baja Arizona. She teaches cooking classes and demos at the CSA and local farmer’s markets. Program includes a delicious lunch.

Sunday, November 12, 2:00-4:30pm

Chef Jaime Lawhorn, Executive Pastry Chef at aka Deli and Bakeshop, will lead a baking workshop on cookies, pies and cake-making essentials. Recipes may include pumpkin pie, cinnamon rolls, and delectable fall cookies.

New! Kimchi & Korean Cuisine Cooking Class
Sunday, December 3, 12:00-3:00pm

Local artist and gallerist Yun Gee Park will lead a kimchi making workshop as well as teach you how to make Korean vegetarian dishes. Also discuss how art and design play important roles in Korean cooking. Meal will be kosher and vegetarian.
