Do you want to learn to dance like they do on Dancing with the Stars?
You will be introduced to a variety of ballroom dances including cha-cha, rumba, east coast swing, and salsa. Come alone or with a partner! No experience is necessary.
No matter your age, shape, size, or if you are a beginner or experienced dancer, this class is for YOU! In this class students will learn basic belly dance technique and moves, including posture, isolations, shimmies and other various styles of belly dance. Choreography will be taught to incorporate the moves students learn along the way. Be prepared to shake your hips to some awesome traditional and non-traditional music! These classes are great if you are looking to get some exercise!

This class is a research-tested physical, mental and social stimulation program, developed by psychologist, Sharon Arkin. A senior, memory-impaired participant will be partnered with a U of A volunteer “personal trainer” who will supervise the participant in physical fitness workouts and engage in memory and language stimulation.

Fitness Center Youth Orientation
These 30-minute sessions provide an overview of proper use/operation of equipment focusing on safety along with proper etiquette prescribed for fitness centers in general. Each participant will receive a certification badge after completing their orientation to wear when using the fitness center and let staff know that the participant has completed training.

JXT is a unique results-based cross-training program designed by one of the world’s top fitness coaches, Brandon Wagner. During the 8-week series the JXT coaches will train all levels of participants to go past their limits through a progressive workout program. JXT provides a personal training experience in a small group setting and simulates the feel of being a member of a competitive sports team.

Learn the basic survival techniques as taught to Israeli soldiers. This course is open to women and men with little or no self-defense experience.

Meditation is considered a type of mind-body complementary medicine, producing a deep state of relaxation and a tranquil mind.
Obstacle Course Readiness
Ever thought of running an obstacle race like a Spartan, Tough Mudder, or Terrain race? Now you can! Join our obstacle course readiness class led by certified Spartan Coach and personal trainer Colin Easom. In this course, we’ll focus on developing endurance, power, strength, agility, and the technical skills needed to overcome obstacles. We’ll pull, push, jump, hang, climb, and crawl our way to race day readiness just in time for the Spartan Sprint in Phoenix in February, and the Tucson Terrain race in April. Suitable for all ability levels, no prior experience necessary.
PWR! Up for Parkinson’s Disease
This is a comprehensive neuroplasticity-principled program that integrates the latest research on Parkinson’s disease and rehabilitation, exercise and wellness. This type of research-based integrated exercise and wellness programming is necessary to counteract the inactivity, motor deterioration and symptoms of PD. This is a proactive program that allows you to optimize your brain change, brain repair and increase your desire to participate in everyday life.
“As a person living with Parkinson’s Disease ( aka a ” Parkie”), I usually shuffled into the PWR! class at The J feeling tired, stiff and sore. But peppy instructor Mary Byrnes and fellow classmates warmly greeted me with gusto. Then, for an hour, energetic Mary put us through the ” PWR ! Moves”, exercises and stretches to improve our posture, weight shifting, trunk rotation and safe transiting. We also did breath ,voice, hand and eye exercises and stretches.. I left each class, feeling less stiff, tired and sore. The class made me feel more relaxed, happier and more in touch with my body. I also enjoyed socializing with my fellow ” Parkies ” As you learn to live with PD, you have got to be able to laugh with others about this often very difficult degenerative neurological disease.”

Run with The J
Beginning and intermediate levels can run anywhere from 1-5 miles with a group. This is a fun, safe and supportive workout twice per week with both morning and evening sessions available. Training plans are available upon request. Running tips and advice will also be given throughout each session.

Shaolin Kempo Karate
Shaolin Kempo is a martial art style that combines the Five Animals of Shaolin Kung Fu, the core competency of Kempo, the hard hitting explosiveness of traditional Karate, as well as the power of Western Boxing and the Felling and Grappling arts of Jujutsu, Chin Na, and Mongolian Wrestling.
It also stresses the importance of Qigong and Wu Chi in the development of internal power
Stroller Boot Camp
This outdoor fitness class is for all moms and dads who want to start, stay or come back to their fitness routines. This 45-minute workout will include cardio drills, strength training exercises and stretching with no/minimal equipment. Workouts are similar to Boot Camp, with the exception of having your baby and toddler’s safely along-side.
Weightlifting for Women
Weight training improves bone density, develops lean muscle, increases metabolism, prevents osteoporosis and builds positive self image. This class will help you feel comfortable in the weight room and guide you through the fundamentals of weight training.
Youth Tri Team
This program helps kids develop their swimming, biking and running skills. Kids will learn how to transition between the sports, build confidence and learn the basic USA Triathlon rules and includes a nutritional program and strength training while learning safe and fun training habits.
