Why?

Youth Tri Training is a fun-filled adventure where youth are introduced to and develop new skills for a multi-sport lifestyle!

RED LEVEL- Newbie’s to the team who are learning the sport, no experience needed.

FUN, skill development and understanding the sport is vital.  Our Red team practices with the team but when we break up in to groups they go and learn their basic skills at their stations.   Basic skills in include:

Development of swimming, biking, running skills, transition between the sports, confidence building, basic USA Triathlon rules, a nutritional program, strength training, learning to be safe and building fun training habits.  Goal for this level is to race safely  and have fun.

Program Requirements:

  • Swim– Must be able to swim across a 25 yard pool without assistance from adult
  • Bike– Must have a working bike and be able to ride bike without training wheels
  • FREE HELMETS provided by TMC
  • Run– Must have a good pair of running shoes
  • All parents must fill out a health history on athlete
  • USA Triathlon youth membership required

 

YELLOW LEVEL- Intermediate 

  • Yellow Team is usually for returning team members who will be working to refine and develop more sports specific skills while continuing to build on the foundation for Green level.  It is important to continue to build the frame work so the kids can achieve more goals and develop more skill levels.

Program Requirements:

  • Swim– must be able to swim 100 yards
  • Bike– must have a working bike and be able to ride at least 3 miles
  • HELMETS required and must pass safety inspection
  • Run– must have a good pair of running shoes and able to walk/run 1/2 mile
  • All athletes parents must fill out or update a health history
  • USA triathlon youth membership required

GREEN LEVEL- Advanced  

  • Green Team is for kids with some tri experience but needs to work on and develop stronger skills and endurance levels to compete in a local Triathlon, a 5K, or just have fun with others while learning about the sport. The Green team is focusing on building a stronger frame work of knowledge for physical endurance, physical strength, a good understanding of nutritional concepts, the use and following of the USA Triathlon guidelines of Racing, having good time management for training, and the mental skills tools for self confidence and respect your team mates, while using safe training practice/habits, and of course a good dose of fun.

Program Requirements:

  • Swim– must be able to swim 200 yards
  • Bike– must have a working bike and be able to ride at least 5 miles
  • HELMETS required and must pass safety inspection
  • Run– must have a good pair of running shoes and able to run 1 mile without stopping
  • All athletes parents must fill out or update a health history
  • USA triathlon youth membership required

 

ELITE TEAM- Juniors race team

  • This is where the training begins.  More speed, more distance and technique’s for competitive racing.  Each athlete will learn how to train safely and be able to set personal goals while learning how to be a better athlete.
    Train to ride the El Tour 25 miler as a group, Learn better technique swimming
  • Train to Run a 5K Learn to set goals and manage,  Learn important Recovery techniques

Program Requirements:

  • Swim– must be able to swim 100 yards- 3:30
  • Bike– must have a Road bike and be able to ride 5 miles
  • HELMETS required and must pass safety inspection
  • Run– must have a good pair of running shoes and able to run 1 mile without stopping
  • All athletes parents must fill out or update a health history
  • USA triathlon youth membership required
